ADA, Okla. - The Tarleton TexAnn volleyball team dropped a Lone Star Conference match to East Central on Thursday, falling 3-1 (25-13, 24-26, 20-25, 18-25) to the Tigers at the Kerr Center in Ada, Okla.
The TexAnns fell to 8-16 on the season and 2-3 in the LSC. The Tigers meanwhile improved to 13-13 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
Tarleton downed ECU 25-13 in the first set, powered from a .435 hitting percentage. Despite hitting .239 on the evening, compared to ECU's .143 attack percentage, the TexAnns dropped the next three sets to drop the match.
Catherine Cutbirth (11 kills) and Rachel Wolf (12 kills) led the TexAnns on the offensive attack, but ECU's game-high 13 kills helped the Tigers surge past the TexAnns. Wolf added 13 digs to collect her sixth double-double of the season.
Jessie Hartman led the TexAnns with a match-high 34 assists, while Shea McBrearty tallied a team-high 16 digs. Shay Gracy added seven blocks on the defensive side of the net for Tarleton.
Hicks assisted the Tigers on 21 of their 50 kills for a double-double. Shayla May had 21 assists as well in the win.
The TexAnns will travel above the Red River again this weekend as the team takes on Southeastern Oklahoma on Saturday, Oct. 17. First service is set for 7 p.m. in Durant, Okla.
