Men's cross country at No. 6 in regional poll

Complete Regional Rankings

NEW ORLEANS - The Tarleton Texan cross country team dropped to No. 6 in this week's south central regional poll released by the U. S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) league office on Tuesday.

Despite a second-place finish at the Lone Star Conference Championships in Canyon on Saturday, the Texans dropped three spots from last week's No. 3 ranking.  Meanwhile, LSC Champion Abilene Christian moved up the poll from last week's No. 4 ranking to a No. 2 nod this week.

Central Missouri took the largest plunge in this week's poll, falling from the No. 1 spot all the way down to No. 5 following its fifth-place finish at the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships .  Missouri Southern State took home the men's MIAA title over the weekend and moved up one spot to No. 1 in the poll.

Pittsburg State, No. 5 in last week's poll, moved to No. 3 with Southwest Baptist right behind them moving up to No. 4.

Following the Texans and staying at No. 7 this week is Eastern New Mexico.  Emporia State moved up one spot to No. 8 this week, while Northwest Missouri (No. 9) and Cameron (No. 10) round out the poll.

Truman State, No. 8 last week, dropped out of this week's poll.

The Texans will return to action next Saturday, Nov. 7 as the team travels to Abilene to compete in the south central regional meet.  The top-two teams from the region will advance to the national meet in Evensville, Ind. on Saturday, Nov. 21.
