STEPHENVILLE – The Tarleton TexAnns bounced back from Monday's loss with an 81-56 win over visiting Southwestern Oklahoma at Wisdom Gym on Saturday.

Brittnie Haley scored a game-high 21 points in just 24 minutes of playing time, leading the TexAnns to a 9-1 record on the season. The Bulldogs fell to 0-10 with the loss.

Tarleton opened the game with a 14-4 run to take a 10-point lead with 13:46 left in the first-half. The TexAnns increased their lead to 14 points (28-14) on a lay-up from Haley with 7:03 remaining and then took an 18-point, 38-20 lead into the locker room when her lay-up fell through as the half ended.

The TexAnns shot an impressive .556 from the field in the first period, including a .429 (3-7) percentage from beyond the arc. Tarleton limited the Bulldogs to just seven field goals in the first-half and allowing them to just .259 percent from the floor.

Sonya Sundberg made the first jumper of the second-half to increase Tarleton's lead to 40-20.  Her three-pointer a few minutes later made it a 20-point game again with 15:57 left to play. Shelby Adamson then made a lay-up on Tarleton's ensuing possession to put the TexAnns on top 50-28 with 15:28 remaining in the game.

The TexAnns pushed their lead to 27 points with 8:05 left to play when Haley converted an old-fashioned three-point play, making a lay-up and then the ensuing free throw after a foul. A pair of free throws from the visiting team made it a 25-point game, but Tori Skarke made a pair of free throws as well and Tarleton's lead was 69-42 with 6:53 left to play.

Tarleton set the remainder of its starters after the five minute mark, but SWOSU would get no closer than 23 points before the TexAnns pulled away with the 25-point win.

Sundberg (11) and JoAnne Jones (10) were the only other TexAnns to score in double figures on the night, but Tarleton did get 25 points from its bench players on the evening. Haley led the TexAnns with a game-high nine rebounds and Kelsey Benford tallied a season-high three blocks on the evening. Tarleton had 10 blocks as a team on Saturday.

Tarleton outscored the opposition inside the paint, 46-28 and finished the game shooting .527 from the field. The TexAnn defense limited the Bulldogs to just .350 percent from the field and forced 22 turnovers on the night.

The TexAnns return to action the Monday, Dec. 21 against Cameron. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. at Wisdom Gym.
