Volleyball wins at Southwestern Oklahoma

STEPHENVILLE - The Tarleton volleyball team won it's final match of a two-match road swing through Oklahoma, downing Southwestern Oklahoma 3-0 at Rankin Williams Field House in Weatherford, Okla., on Saturday.

Tarleton wasted no time, taking the first set with a convincing 25-7 victory.  The TexAnns had just eight kills in the match, but it was more than enough as the Tarleton defense held the Bulldogs to just five kills in the game.

Despite four ties and two lead changes, the TexAnns came away with the win in the second set, 25-21.  Tarleton managed to record 15 kills with just four errors, while SWOSU could manage only 12 kills in the set.

Tarleton finished off the match with a 25-16 win in the third and final set.  The TexAnns collaborated for a .452 attackin percentage as a team and held the Bulldogs to a .147 hitting percentage.

Rachel Wolf led the TexAnns with a match-high 11 kills and a .455 hitting percentage on the day.  Erin Lynn added nine kills and led the defense with three block assists.  Jessie Hartman led the team with 30 assists, while both Shea McBrearty and Margaret Luedecke lead the squad with 10 digs each.

SWOSU's Emily Walter led the Bulldogs offense with nine kills.

The TexAnns will return to action next weekend with more tournament play.  The team will travel to Topeka, Kan. to participate in the 2009 Lady Blues Fall Classic.  The tournament will begin Friday, Oct. 2 on the Washburn campus.
