AUSTIN – The Tarleton TexAnn golf team is in first place after the first day of competition at the St. Edward's Invitational in Austin thanks to a combined score of 311 – 14 strokes better than host SEU.
The TexAnns are led by Carla Cooper with a 75 on day one as the Tarleton junior leads all individuals at the event.
SEU (325) is in second followed by Western Texas Community College (328), Sonoma State (331), West Texas A&M (332), Cal State-Monterey Bay (334), Angelo State (335), St. Mary's (342), Incarnate Word (342), Chico State (343), Central Oklahoma (345), Dallas Baptist (346), Newman (350), Cameron (351), Arkansas-Fort Smith (366), Southwestern Oklahoma (367) and Hawaii-Hilo (372) round out the field of competition that got a late start on Monday.
Tarleton's Jacqueline Lau and Katy Ward are tied for fourth with a 78 while Melanie Tham is tied for 10th with an 80 and Andrea Lowe is tied for 26th with an 84.
The second round is scheduled for Tuesday at the Grey Rock Golf Club in Austin. Live Stats will be available for the second round via the St. Edward's web site.
