TexAnns invited back to South Central Regional

INDIANPOLIS, Ind. - The Tarleton TexAnns have been invited to its second trip to the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Tournament, earning an at-large bid and the No. 5 seed in the tournament.

“We are excited to be back in the NCAA Tournament,” Tarleton head coach Ronnie Hearne said. “We feel like we deserved to be there with all of the accomplishments that we had this year. This is a really good team and even though we do not have any players on it from the last time we made the regional tournament, I think the experience that both myself and [assistant] coach Wilson will help us get our team more prepared for this tournament coming up.”

The TexAnns, who are 23-6 overall this season, earned the school's highest seed after earning the No. 6 seed in the TexAnns' first trip to the tournament back in 2006. The TexAnns will face the No. 4 seed Emporia State, which is in coincidently the same team the TexAnns played in 2006.

The tournament will be hosted by West Texas A&M who earned the No. 1 seed after winning the Lone Star Conference Championship and earning an automatic bid into the tournament. The Lady Buffs will play the No. 8-seeded St. Mary's Rattlers in the first round.

Earning the No. 2 seed was Washburn who earned an automatic bid after winning the Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association's automatic bid. The Lady Blues will face No. 7 Central Missouri. No. 3-seeded Northeastern State will face the No. 6 seeded Central Oklahoma Bronchos.

The Tournament will be held Friday-Monday, March 12-15, with the first two rounds being played Friday and Saturday, with the finals being played on Monday. Game times will be released on Monday.
