Track teams earn 15 top-three finishes at Trinity

Final Results

SAN ANTONIO – The Tarleton track & field teams traveled to San Antonio on Saturday to compete in their second meet of the season at the Trinity Invitational. The teams competed well as they took first place in two events and 15 top-three finishes.

“Overall I thought we had a really good meet,” Tarleton track & field head coach Pat Ponder said. “It was tough because there wasn't a lot of down time, with everyone going from event to event the whole time but I thought it gave our teams some good experience for the conference meet.”

Leslie Jordan started off the women's field events with a third-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 12.99m. She also finished second in the discus with a throw of 40.82m.

In the men's field events, it was Casey Keeter with a second-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 15.74m. Hayden Eubanks finished in second place in the discus with a throw of 48.59m, while his brother Nolan Eubanks finished third with a 48.04m throw.

Andrew Grant had a third-place finish in the pole vault with a 4.44m vault. Cyler Matlock took second in the high jump with a jump of 1.93m while Tyler Rushing finished third with a 1.88m jump.

For the women's running events, Kandis Brooks just missed the provisional mark as she ran a 14.56 in the 100m hurdles.

Chase Graf earned a second-place finish in the men's 200m dash with a time of 22.58, while Aaron Donahue finished in third for the men in the 400m dash with a time of 49.68. Jared McNeil took second place in the 800m run with a 1:56.81 time and finished first in the 1500m by running 3:58.64.

In the men's 5K event, Gerzain Valenzuela finished in second place with a time of 15:24.00. Garrett Thomas took first place in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.03.

I thought all of our kids competed well and it was refreshing to go to a meet where we got our results after we were finished,” said Coach Ponder. “We are looking forward to getting back to work and running our home meet here on Thursday.”

The Texan track teams will host the Tarleton Relays in Stephenville on Thursday, March 11. Field events are scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m. with running events slated to begin at 4:00 p.m.
