TexAnns win Tarleton/Coca-Cola Classic

- Final Results

GRANBURY – The No. 5 Tarleton TexAnn golf team claimed a 10-stroke victory at the 2010 Tarleton/Coca-Cola Classic at Harbor Lakes Golf Club in Granbury Tuesday.

The TexAnns led after the first day of competition with a 296 and followed up with a second round 306 to win their sixth tournament of the season.

No. 17 Grand Canyon finished second with a 612 (297-315) while T-No. 25 Northeastern State took home third place with a 613 (304-309). 

Tarleton's Carla Cooper tied for the low individual total with GCU's Georgina Dunn and West Texas A&M's Hammerli Sriyai. All had a 147, but Dunn and Cooper survived the first playoff hole to put Sriyai in third place after the first two pared the 18th hole in the playoff. However, due to time constraints with GCU and their flight plans, the remaining two went to a scorecard playoff, and Dunn had a 36 on the back nine to Cooper's 38, so Dunn took the first-place trophy.

Tarleton's Andrea Lowe and Katy Ward tied for eighth with a 152. Lowe shot a 75 and 77 while Ward finished with a 73 and 79. Jacqueline Lau had a 153 (75-78) to finish tied for 12th while Melanie Tham tied for 27th with a 158 (81-77). Candace Brister competed as an individual medalist, and she finished with a 167 (86-81) and tied for 68th.

T- No. 25 West Texas A&M (315-309) and No. 10 St. Edward's (311-313) tied for fourth with a 624 while No. 18 Angelo State was sixth with a 626 (302-324), No. 9 Western Washington finished seventh with a 631 (316-315), Midwestern State was eighth with a 632 (305-327) and No. 20 Nebraska-Omaha (319-314) and Cameron (314-319) tied for ninth with a 633 each. No. 21 Central Oklahoma (310-326-636), Incarnate Word (323-319-642), Dallas Baptist (325-321-646), Newman (320-327-647), East Central (319-335-654), Texas A&M-Commerce (320-336-656), Northwood (332-342-674) and Southwestern Oklahoma State (342-347-689) completed the field. 

Tarleton will return to action at the 2010 Lone Star Conference Championships in Thackerville, Okla. The three-round event will take place at WinStar Golf Club on April 18-20.
