NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Tarleton men's track & field team fell four spots to No. 18 in this week's national poll released by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) on Wednesday.
The Texans, despite finishing second overall at last weekend's David Noble/Angelo State Relays dropped 26.8 points this week, but still managed to remain inside the top-20.
Angelo State moved up four spots from No. 5 last week to take over the top spot in this week's poll. The Rams tallied 185.97 points to edge out Pittsburg State (177.92) who moved up two spots from No. 4 to No. 2 this week. Saint Augustine, last week's No. 1-ranked team, fell to No. 3 this week.
Other movement's made this week from Lone Star Conference schools, included Abilene Christian moving up from No. 9 to No. 6 this week and Texas A&M-Kingsville moving up from No. 25 to No. 21 overall.
The Texans return to action this weekend at the Baylor/Michael Johnson Invitational in Waco. Field events are set to begin at 9:30 on Saturday with running preliminaries slated to start at noon.
