STEPHENVILLE – The Tarleton TexAnn softball team dropped the first game of a three-game Lone Star Conference South Division series at Texas Woman's on Friday, losing 4-0.
The Pioneers scored their first run on a hit and an error in the bottom of the first inning before adding two more runs in the bottom of the third. TWU scored the two runs on four hits and an error to take a 3-0 lead.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Pioneers had a run on three hits to take a 4-0 lead.
The TexAnns had a base runner on first, second and third innings, but not got past first base. In the top of the sixth inning, Tarleton had two runners on, but the TexAnns couldn't get the runners around to score. Tarleton got four hits in the game.
Tarleton's Julie Norris got the loss with a complete six innings while allowing four hits and four runs – three earned. She walked one and struck out four batters.
The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday, April 24 at noon in Denton.
