AUSTIN – Tarleton All-Americans Garrett Thomas and Jared McNeil both fared well at the 2010 Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin on Saturday.
Thomas, a senior out of Gail, took top honors in the men's 110m hurdles college division, while McNeil, a junior out of Saginaw, finished seventh overall in the Jerry Thompson Invitational mile run.
Thomas finished in a time of 14.40 in his event and McNeil finished the mile with a NCAA Division II provisional time of 4:11.21.
“I was really proud of both Garrett and Jared,” Tarleton head coach Pat Ponder said. “Garrett's event was smaller than normal, but he still goes back home with his best finish at the relays. Jared ran well and set a national qualifying time in his race and I couldn't be happier for the two of them.
Kandis Brooks qualified for the Texas Relays in the women's 100m hurdles as well. The senior All-American finished 23rd overall in the preliminary heats that took place on Friday with a time of 14.10.
All three athletes will return to action again next Saturday, April 10, when the Tarleton Track & Field teams travel to San Angelo to compete in the Angelo State Relays.
