STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton TexAnn softball coach
Julie Mata has announced tryouts for the TexAnn softball team on Saturday, May 15 and Saturday, May 22.
The tryouts will be from 10 a.m.-noon each day at the Tarleton Softball Field. The tryouts will be open to all 2010 graduating seniors and current college students.
The field will open at 9:30 a.m. for check-in and paperwork. Once the players have checked in and turned in required paperwork warm-up procedures will be listed and players can warm-up on their own. No paperwork/check-in will be allowed after 10 a.m.
Only one tryout date is allowed per prospective athlete.
Students trying out should bring cleats, workout clothes and your own bat (if preferred). A letter of release from any four-year college/university you have attended (even if you didn't play there). Athletes must also bring a copy of their physical examination (current within the last six months) and a letter of release from a coach or administrator if you are a current high school student to show you have no UIL competition remaining.
Players will have a chance to exhibit their skills at base running, hitting, position play and bunting.
Should the softball field get extensive rain on the day before the tryouts, or the day of, the tryouts will be postponed.
