CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – The National Golf Coaches Association has named Tarleton's Carla Cooper to the NGCA Division II All-America Team while head coach Jerry Doyle was named the West Region Coach of the Year.
Cooper, a junior for the TexAnns, was also named to the All-West Region Team with teammates Jacqueline Lau and Melanie Tham.
This is Cooper's third straight honor on the All-American team by NGCA as well as being named to the all-region team. As a freshman, Cooper was an honorable mention selection before being a first team honoree last year as a sophomore.
Doyle guided the team to the program's best-ever finish of fourth place at the 2010 Division II National Championships. The TexAnns, who were ranked No. 5 in the last NGCA poll released at the end of April, also claimed their fourth straight Super Region Four Championship two weeks after claiming the team's third straight Lone Star Conference Championship.
The National Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. The NGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition.
