NEW ORLEANS, La. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Monday winners of USTFCCCA Region Athletes and Coaches of the Year honors for the 2010 Outdoor Track & Field season in Division II as voted by the division's coaches.

Tarleton's Quint Melius was named the South Central Region Men's Assistant Coach of the Year, according to the release, after an outstanding season with his throwers.

Melius, in his sixth year at Tarleton, has qualified four of his throwers for the NCAA Championships that begin this Thursday, May 27, in Charlotte, N.C. Three of his throwers, Nolan Eubanks, Hayden Eubanks and Casey Keeter are in the discus, which includes No. 4 seed N. Eubanks. Keeter will also participate in the shot put event this week.

Tarleton State finished third in the Lone Star Conference Championship meet this year with Melius' throwers notching 26 of the team's points.
