STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton head volleyball coach Mary Schindler has announced the signing of Paige Hamilton to a National Letter-of-Intent to play for the TexAnns beginning in the fall of 2010.
“I am very excited to have a player with like Paige sign to play with us beginning this fall,” Schindler said. “Paige has great energy and a great work ethic on the court. She will be an immediate impact for us and she is going to be a teammate that will make those around her, instantly better. She is quick, she reads the court well and she comes from a very athletic family. We are just thrilled to have her playing for the TexAnn Volleyball program.”
Hamilton is a three-time letterwinner out of Smithson Valley High School, where she teamed up with Tarleton junior setter, Jessie Hartman, during her sophomore year to help lead the Rangers to co-district championship and an area finalist. The newest TexAnn was an all-district selection all three years while playing varsity, which included two first team selections her final two years. She was a two-time Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) all-state selection following her junior and senior campaigns and was the Comal County Player of the Year her senior year.
Hamilton, who played the libero position, earned a pair of tournament Most Valuable Player awards while playing for the Rangers and was a San Antonio All-Area team honoree as well. Following her senior season, Hamilton was selected to participate in the Texas All-Star game, which will be played in later this summer in July.
Hamilton exceeded off the volleyball court as well and was named to the academic all-district team in 2007 and 2008. She also lettered in softball at Smithson Valley where she was named a second team all-district selection while helping guide the Rangers to the 26-5A District Championship. She earned all-academic honors in softball as well.
The incoming TexAnn played club volleyball for three years with the Alamo Kaepa 15, 16 and 18 teams where she won numerous awards and honors while leading her teams to nationals.
The TexAnns will begin two-a-days in August in preparation for the upcoming 2010 season.
