STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton head softball coach
Julie Mata has announced another signing to the roster with the addition of Marcie Rodriguez.
Rodriguez, an outfielder from El Paso, will transfer from Ranger College.
“Marcie was impressive when we played Ranger last fall,” Mata said. “She made really good plays in the outfield and was a hard out offensively against good pitching and defense. She's quick and works hard, so I feel like she's going to be a great addition to the team.”
Rodriguez was picked as a second team all-conference selection in both 2009 and 2010. She was named to the Texas Junior College All-Star Team in 2009 and was picked as an Athlete of the Month in October 2008.
At J.M. Hanks High School in El Paso, Rodriguez was a first team All-District 1-5A selection in 2008 after being a second team selection in 2007. In 2006, she was an honorable mention all-district pick. Rodriguez, who played on the freshman varsity team in 2005, received the Softball Academic Award in 2006.
The newest addition to the TexAnn roster is the daughter of Mario and Cecilia Rodriguez. She has two sisters, Brenda and Ari, and a brother, Alex.
