STEPHENVILLE – The Tarleton Texan football team has been ranked in two national preseason polls, including being named No. 8 in the
Lindy's Division II Top 25. The Texans were ranked No. 15 in the
Sporting News Preseason Poll as well.
The Texans, who finished No. 10 in the final American Football Coaches Association poll last season after making the program's third NCAA Division II playoff appearance.
Tarleton was the highest ranked team in both preseason polls. The Texans were joined by No. 10 Midwestern State, No. 17 Abilene Christian and No. 22 Texas A&M-Kingsville in the
Lindy's poll.
ACU was ranked one spot ahead of the Texans at No. 14 in the
Sporting News poll while TAMUK was ranked No. 18, West Texas A&M at No. 22 and MSU at No. 25.
Tarleton kicks off the season on Thursday, Sept. 2 at home against Northeastern State.
