INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The 2010-11 COSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District teams were announced Thursday for women's basketball and two TexAnns were recognized for both their academic achievements and on-court success.
Junior guard Shelby Adamson was named to the first team for District 6 College Division, while senior guard Sonya Sundberg was named to the second team in District 6.
This season, Adamson is averaging 17.1 points, 3.9 assists and 2.4 steals per game, all team-highs. Sundberg is averaging 5.5 points, 3.5 assists and a 1.75 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Together they have led the TexAnns to a 16-2 record, a No. 23 national ranking and a No. 2 regional ranking. Both rankings mark the highest in Tarleton's Division II history.
Off the court, Adamson has achieved a 3.8 while majoring in mathematics, and Sundberg has achieved a 3.9 in kinesiology at Tarleton.
*The 2010-11 Capital One Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Basketball Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance on the floor and in the classroom. The Academic All-District® teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The University Division team includes NCAA Division I participants, while the College Division team combines NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
