- North Texas Open Results

DENTON - The Tarleton men's and women's track and field teams competeted at the North Texas Open Friday in Denton and had strong performances in a number of events.

This marked the third event of the year for the Texans and TexAnns and already individuals are making vast improvements on times and showings.

Tarleton had 16 individuals or teams finish in the top five in their event and they are as follows.

In the women's 400-meter dash, Derekia Coleman finished fifth (58.63).

In the women's 800-meter dash, Payton Shoush came in third (2:24.34), while Lindsey Hinton came in fifth (2:30.07).

In the women's 1500-meter run, Hinton also came in second in the event with a time of 4:54.96.

In the women's 100-meter hurdles, Shelby Terry finished fourth overall (16.17).

In the women's 4x400-meter relay, the TexAnns had two teams finish in the top five with the "A" team made up of Courtney Newsom, Jessica Ryan, Diamond Wilson and Danitra Marshall finishing second and the "B" team made up of Paige Klein, Payton Shoush, Cheyenne Brooks and Shabrina McAdams finished third.

As far as the field events were concerned for the women, Rachel Wolf came in second in the high jump (1.55m).

On the men's side, Austin Griffin finished second overall in the 100-meter dash (10.71) while Jamal Mays followed closely behind in fourth (10.74).

In the men's 400-meter dash, Chase Graf came in third place (49.30), while John Morin was right behind him in fourth (49.50).

In the men's 800-meter dash, Brian Cooper finished fourth overall with a time of 1:59.84.

In the men's 1500-meter run, Chris Hearell also finished fourth overall (4:05.03).

In the men's 4x100-meter relay, Tarleton's "A" squad came in third and was composed of Travis Montgomery, Autstin Griffin, Jeff Smith and Jamal Mays.

In the men's 4x400-meter relay, the "A" team also finished third and was made up of Aaron Donohue, Chase Graf, Sherraud Roberts and John Morin.

The Texans and TexAnns' next competition is the UTA/Bobby Lane Invitational on April 2 in Arlington.
