TexAnns win Doc Housewright Tarleton Invitational

- Final Results

GRANBURY – The No. 3 Tarleton TexAnns claimed the 2011 Doc Housewright Tarleton Invitational title with a 592 at Harbor Lakes Golf Club after shooting a two-under 286 on Tuesday.

The TexAnns finished ahead of Grand Canyon (611) and St. Edward's (619) to claim their sixth victory of the season behind senior Carla Cooper who won the individual title with a two-under 142 (74-68).

Teammate Katy Ward finished second with a 147 (77-70) while Jacqueline Lau took third with a 148 (77-70). GCU's Jacqueline Sneddon finished fourth with a 149 (75-74) while her teammate Ashley Mooney rounded out the Top Five individuals with a 150 (78-72).

Sharon Lau finished tied for No. 13 with 155 (77-78) and Melanie Tham finished tied at No. 45 with a 164 (84-80). 

Candace Brister-Rose and Sarah Fulfer competed as individuals and tied for No. 45 with a 164. Brister-Rose shot 84-80 while Fulfer shot 85-79.

California, Pa. (626) and Northeastern State (626) tied for fourth while Academy of Art (638), Central Oklahoma (641), Cal State-Monterey Bay (642), Western Washington (644) and Nebraska-Omaha (645) rounded out the first 10 teams in the tournament. Newman (654), Angelo State (663), Midwestern State (667), St. Martin's (670), Chico State (671), Cameron (671), West Texas A&M (673), Hawaii-Hilo (675), East Central (677), Southwestern Oklahoma State (702) and Texas A&M-Kingsville (752) completed the field.

Tarleton will return to action at the Lone Star Conference Championship Tournament next Monday-Wednesday, April 18-20 in San Antonio at the Republic Golf Course.
