Corin Henry Highlight Video
NAESTVED, Denmark – Former Tarleton guard
Corin Henry has signed to play basketball for Team FOG Naestved in Naestved, Denmark.
Henry will join Team Fog, which plays in the Danish basketball league, Canal Digital Ligaen, for the new season.
“I cannot wait to get over there,” Henry said. “I leave August 15th. The chance to play professionally while traveling the world has always been a dream of mine. Everything the Tarleton coaching staff guaranteed me when they recruited me has come true. They told me coming in if I worked hard I would graduate and have a chance to continue playing once my college career was over. I'm a few courses away from graduating and I intend to finish those online during the coming school year.”
Henry was named the Lone Star Conference South Division Defensive Player of the Year as a senior in 2010-11, and he helped the Texans to the LSC South Division championship.
Henry led the team with 14.2 points per game and 127 assists this season. He also topped the squad with 53 steals and broke the school record of charges taken.
“What a great accomplishment for Corin,” Reisman said. “I am truly ecstatic about the opportunity he will have in Denmark next season. Corin had a tremendous two seasons with us and certainly deserves this opportunity to pursue his dream. Team FOG Naestved has signed not only a great player, but an even better individual. Corin comes to work every day, pushes those around him to make them better and has a never say die attitude that rubs off on those around him. We will miss him, but we wish him the best of luck.”
He becomes the next player in a long line of former Texans who have went on to play professional basketball.
“I spoke to Corin today, and he's extremely excited - as are we - about his upcoming opportunity in Denmark,” said associate head coach
Chris Reisman. “Corin is the 26th player since 2000 that we've sent overseas, and he's very deserving. Not only to sign a professional contract but to do so with a first league team is a great accomplishment. Corin was the top point guard in the LSC and in my opinion, the South Central Region. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten. I wish him tremendous success.”
In the announcement by the team, the release says that Corin is a “very quick guard who can both shoot and pass… he can also contribute a portion at the other end of the [floor].”
The Director of Team FOG Naestved, Andreas Laresen, said, “We are very pleased to have found our point guard for the coming season. We believe that
Corin Henry is a great solution for us… He is small, fast and aggressive on both ends of the [floor].”
Henry enjoyed his time wearing the purple and white, and he says he is pleased with his decision to play basketball for the Texans.
“I want to thank Coach Reisman and the rest of his staff,” Henry said. “They pushed me to become a better player, student and leader. I'll always value the time I spent at Tarleton State University. The school, fans, students and teammates were one of a kind.”
