TexAnns lead the pack after day one of Oklahoma Intercollegiate

FORT SILL, Okla. – The Tarleton TexAnn golf team returned to action this week and is currently tied for first place with Midwestern State after shooting a seven over-par 295 at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Tournament which is being hosted by Cameron and held at Fort Sill Golf Club in Fort Sill, Okla.
 
The TexAnns (+7; 295) are tied with the Mustangs (+7; 295) for the top-spot after competition on day one, while Cameron (+13; 301), Central Oklahoma (+14; 302) and Newman (+16; 304) round out the top-five.
 
As a team, Tarleton led the field on Monday with 10 birdies and finished second on the day with 61 pars, just one behind MSU's 62 pars. The TexAnns led the field in par three scoring as well, carding just two over-par on par three holes for the day.
 
Jacqueline Lau is in a tie for second place after shooting an even-par 72 on Monday. She is just two strokes off the pace of current tournament leader, Taylor Neidy of UCO, who shot a two under-par 70. Lau had a one under-par 35 following her first nine holes and then came back in with a one over par 37 to finish even for the first day.   
 
Isabell Jimenez-Perea is right Lau following first-round action after finishing the day in a tie for sixth place overall with a first-round score of one over-par 73. Sarah Fulfer is in a tie for ninth place after carding a two over-par 74 on Monday. Jessica Pickwick (+4; 76) is in a tie for 16th place and Sharon Lau (+6; 78) rounds out the competition for the TexAnns as she sits in a tie for 28th place.
 
Players will be back on the course tomorrow for the final round. Tee times are scheduled to begin in the morning at Fort Sill Golf Club.
