FORT SILL, Okla. – The eighth-ranked Tarleton TexAnn golf team concluded its fall schedule on Tuesday, finishing in second place with a 15 over-par 591 at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Tournament held at Fort Sill Golf Club, in Fort Sill, Okla.
The TexAnns shot just eight over-par (296) as a team on Tuesday, but tournament champion Midwestern State shot a final round three over-par 291. Both teams were tied for first place following Monday's first round action.
Despite not winning the team title, the TexAnns did however card its best two rounds of the fall season (+15; 295-296 = 591), shooting under 600 for the first time in four events (ASU-606, SMU-636), WWU-616)
Tarleton's
Jacqueline Lau headed into Tuesday's final round in a tie for second place in the individual all-around with a score of even par, but the senior shot a final-round three under-par 69 en route to her third overall individual title.
Lau shot under-par for the first time this season and had her best round of the fall as she bettered her two-day total and second place finish from the St. Matin's Invitational (+10; 81-75 = 156) held in Olympia, Wash. back on Oct. 6.
Isabell Jimenez-Perea (+6; 72-77 = 150),
Jessica Pickwick (+6; 76-74 = 150) and
Sarah Fulfer (+6; 74-76 = 150) each tied for 10
th place in the tournament Fulfer had her best two rounds of the fall season as well, improving 12 strokes from her 18 over-par 162 performance in the first tournament of the season in San Angelo back on Sept. 18.
Sharan Lau finished the tournament 11 over-par 155 as she rounded out the scoring for the TexAnns this week.
The TexAnns will take a break away from competition over the winter months and will return to action in the spring.
