OKLAHOMA CITY – Weather cut the Oklahoma City Spring Tennis Invitational short, but not before the No. 22 Tarleton TexAnns made their presence known.
Tarleton managed to complete the three singles flights, but were unable to complete the doubles matches due to rain. The matches were expected to continue Saturday, but were cancelled due to weather.
In the opening flight of the tournament,
Alicia Perez remained perfect on the season by winning her match in straight sets and would have advanced to the finals. Karla Martinez faltered in her opening match.
In the second flight,
Melanie Barnes and Slivia Nieta advanced to the semi-finals before the tournament was called.
Flight three was dominated by the TexAnns as
Makenzie Mitchell and
Kayla Deatherage won their matches and would have advanced to the finals.
Tarleton will return to action next weekend in Arkansas for the Ouachita Baptist Quad, beginning on Feb. 24.
