LUBBOCK – The results are in from the Texas Tech Open in Lubbock this weekend and the Tarleton track & field squad had no problem finding success in the panhandle.
Lindsey Hinton,
Celeste Meyer and
Nikki McNorton came away with first-place wins in the 10,000m run, 5,000m run and high jump, respectively. Hinton ran her event in 38:24.72 and Meyer ran 18:54.8 for her first win of the season, while McNorton leaped 5-feet, 7.71 inches to claim the victory.
Hinton is the top-ranked runner in the Lone Star Conference in the 10,000m and 5,000m run while McNorton has already met the provisional qualifying mark in the high jump.
The junior tandem weren't the only ones to find success as the team has five others finish in the top five of their respective events.
Hayden Eubanks claimed a silver finish in the men's discus with a throw of 169-10 feet. The discus throw was good enough for No. 12 in the NCAA rankings and provisionally qualified. The senior from Chico also finished eighth in the shot put with a throw of 49-4.51 feet.
Miles Joslin also earned a second-place finish with a time of 16:05.06 in the 5,000m run.
Tarleton also had a trio earn third-place honors, including a pair of hurdlers.
Payton Shoush (2:17.83) brought home the bronze in the 800m run while Jeff Smith (51.90) and
Jenna Duncan (1:04.90) claimed third in the men's and women's 410m and 400m hurdles, respectively.
Tarleton also had three individuals finish in the top ten as well as the men's and women's 4x400m relay teams.
Bryan Garcia ran the 5,000m run in 16:46.07 to claim sixth place while
Cyler Matlock earned the same finish in the men's high jump with a leap of 6-4.37 feet. Matlock also earned 10
th place in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.04.
The other top-ten finisher was
Leslie Jordan in the discus with a seventh-place finish on a throw of 41-8.78 feet.
The women's relay team earned eighth place in 3:57.01 while the men earned 10
th place in 3:18.81.

The Texans and TexAnns will continue competing at Division I events next week when they travel to Waco for the Michael Johnson Open on the campus of Baylor University April 21.
