Guy and Upchurch Named Daktronics All-South Central Region Selections

DENVER, Colo. – Tarleton State's Chuck Guy and De'Andre Upchurch received more postseason hardware on Thursday as both players were named Daktronics All-South Central Region selections.

Guy, a 6-0 guard out of Fort Worth, was named to the first team, while Upchurch, a 6-2 guard from Flint, Mich., was tabbed a second team honoree. Both players were named Lone Star Conference First Team selections just a little over a week ago.

Guy shared first team honors with Metro State's Brandon Johnson, Fort Lewis' Alex Herrera, Angelo State's Kenny Williams and Colorado-Colorado Springs' Derrick White. Meanwhile, Upchurch shared second team honors with Midwestern State's Monzaigo Williams, Metro State's Mitch McCarron, Arkansas-Fort Smith's Jake Toupal and Colorado Mines' Trevor Wages.

Metro State's Jefferson was tabbed the South Central Player the year.

Guy ranks sixth in the LSC and 217th in the nation with a 15.9 points per game average, but he led the LSC in both assists (6.1) and assist/turnover ratio (3.31). He ranks 6th and 14th nationally in both statistical categories, respectively.

Upchurch heads into this weekend's NCAA South Central Regional Tournament as the LSC's leader in scoring, as he is averaging 17.3 points per game. Should he finish the season as the LSC's leader, he would be the first Texan to claim that honor since Brandon Burney led the league with 21.1 ppg back in 1999-2000.
