No. 7 Tarleton in seventh after opening round of NCAA Championships

AURORA, Colo. – No. 7 Tarleton Golf shot a 301 (+13) at the CommonGround Golf Course and sits in seventh place after the first round of the NCAA Division II women's golf championships on Wednesday.

It's the first time the TexAnns have shot over 300 since March 20, where they shot a 313 in the first round of the Otter Invitational but rebounded to shoot a 296 in the final round and began a stretch of winning five straight tournaments leading to the NCAA championships.

Nova Southeastern and Rollins College are tied atop the leaderboard with 290 (+2). The other two West Regional qualifiers are Dallas Baptist, who's in third (290) and West Texas A&M in 11^th (309).

Isabel Jimenez-Perea, the No. 1-ranked player in the nation, is tied for sixth on the individual leaderboard after shooting even par 72 on the day. Jimenez-Perea and the TexAnns started on the back nine and was +4 through the first four holes, but responded with birdies on No. 16 and No. 18 and was 2-under on the front nine without any bogeys.

Casey Wild is currently tied for 16^th with a 74 (+2). Wild had a strong finish after recording a +4 on the first nine holes. Wild went on to birdie No. 1 and No. 3 and parred her final six holes. Wild and Jimenez-Perea were the only TexAnns with three or more birdies.

Beatriz Prados shot a 77 (+5) on the afternoon, which puts the junior in tied for 38^th. Prados was 1-over on her first nine holes with her lone birdie coming on the par-5 15. Prados had a team-high 12 pars.

Sarah Gee had an opening-round score of 78 (+6). Gee finished the final nine holes at 1-over and had 11 pars. Kerbey Kipp finished at 79 (+7) and had a birdie and ten pars in the round.
