STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton Football has announced its 11-game schedule for the 2017 season that is set to kick off on September 2 with a trip to Cleveland, Mississippi.
 
"We're excited about the schedule we have in front of us," said Todd Whitten, who is set to begin his eighth season as the head coach of the Texans this fall. "It will be a huge challenge for us, as it is every year when you play in the Lone Star Conference. We'll work hard before we open on the road at Delta State on September 2 and then try to get better every week after that."
 
The Texans will make their season debut at McCool Field in Cleveland, Mississippi with a road trip to Delta State, a perennial power within the Gulf South Conference, at 6 p.m. Tarleton will return to Stephenville the following week to make its home debut on September 9 against Oklahoma Panhandle at 7 p.m.
 
In week 3, Tarleton will begin Lone Star Conference play with a trip to Angelo State on September 16.
 
Other notable dates in Sept. 23 when Tarleton hosts West Texas A&M at 7 p.m. on Family Weekend and October 28 when the Texans welcome Western Oregon at 6 p.m. for the annual Homecoming game at Memorial Stadium. The season finale features Tarleton hosting Texas A&M-Commerce at 7 p.m. on Military Appreciation Night.
