The Potishman-Lard Tennis Courts at Tarleton State University underwent a significant upgrade prior to the 2014 season when the complex expanded from four courts to eight with the original four courts also getting a facelift.

The project included renovations to the existing four tennis courts, the addition to four brand new courts on the backside of the original courts and new lighting for the entire complex. All courts were painted purple and outdoor bleachers were placed on the west end of the complex with a courtside view of the No. 1 doubles court.

The original tennis complex was opened on November 3, 1979 after being constructed under a grant from the Mary Potishman Lard Trust. Leo Potishman and Clyde H. Wells, a chairman of the Texas A&M Board of Regents, volleyed a gold tennis ball that Saturday to christen the courts. The speakers also unveiled a plaque dedicated to the memory of Robert S. Lard.

The original four courts, constructed under the Lard Trust Grant, was constructed for a total cost of $115,000.
