When the 2026 Tarleton State Football season begins, Melanie Lane will enter her 12th season as the Football Administrative Assistant for the Tarleton State Texan Football program.

Lane joined the Tarleton State Athletics staff in April 2016 after serving the university as a Financial Aid Counselor for 14 years. In that role, she assisted students with the FAFSA application process, verified student records, processed financial aid awards, and guided students and their families through the financial aid process.

A native of Comanche, Texas, Lane is a Comanche High School graduate and attended Tarleton State University, where she met her husband, Steve. They celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary in 2026. Their son, Tyler, graduated from Tarleton State in 2023, and their daughter, Jaci, is scheduled to graduate from Tarleton State in the summer of 2027.
