Mike A. Myers, a native of Olney, Texas attended Tarleton State College from 1954-1956. He continued his education at the University of Texas in Austin, where he received his BBA degree in 1959 and a doctorate of jurisprudence in 1963. While at Tarleton, Myers was a starting split end for the Plowboys and a sprinter on the track team. He was on the first Tarleton football team to win a conference championship since 1928. Myers became a very successful entrepreneur in the banking and real estate businesses, having been inducted into the Texas Business Hall of Fame. As a Tarleton student, Myers was voted Class Favorite, All Tarleton Runner Up, and Student Council Vice President. He has since been honored by Tarleton as a Distinguished Alumnus (1978), Ring of Honor recipient (2004) and President’s All-Purple Award honoree. As a founder of the TSU Foundation and a lifetime member of the Alumni Association, Myers continues to be supportive and active in the development of Tarleton State University.
