Monica Garza is a career-record holder for the TexAnn softball team, and dominated the LSC from 2003-04. With a .479 average as a senior, Garza racked up 69 hits, 15 doubles, 34 runs and a .799 slugging percentage. That season earned Garza All-American, All-Region, and All-LSC honors en route to one of the best seasons in Tarleton softball history. Not only was she successful on the field, but also in the classroom, being the first student-athlete accepted into the Sports Medicine program. Since leaving the TexAnns, Garza went on to play professionally in the Women's Professional Fastpitch League for the Texas Thunder, and eventually competed on the PFX tour. She is now a successful coach and physical education teacher and resides in Carrollton.
