Tarleton State University Athletics

Talton was an outstanding track athlete, excelling in the long jump and triple jump. He was named Tarleton’s outstanding field performer in 1985, 1987, and 1988. He helped Tarleton win the TIAA team title in 1987 by winning both the long jump and the triple jump and running on the winning 400-meter relay team. The Texans won the TIAA title again in 1988 as Talton won the long jump and triple jump and was named the meets’s outstanding field performer. Talton continued his winning streak by winning the long jump championship at the 1988 NAIA National Outdoor Meet and being named a 1988 All-American.
