Texans to host Dallas Christian Tuesday for Armed Forces Night

STEPHENVILLE ? The Tarleton Texan men's basketball team will host Dallas Christian Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 8 p.m. as part of Armed Forces Night in Wisdom Gym.

The Texans, who opened the 2007-08 season 2-0 with victories over Palm Beach Atlantic (71-62) and Tampa (95-51), welcome all United States armed forces veterans and their families to get into the basketball double header free on Tuesday.

Tarleton is led in scoring by senior Avery Patterson with 21.5 points per game and Jeffrey Henfield was second with 12.5 points per outing. Henfield and Eric Williams lead the team with 5.5 rebounds apiece. Limar Wilson's 14 assists tops the squad while Dan Eichel's .700 shooting percentage is best on the team.

The Texans are averaging .505 from the field, .426 from the three-point arc and .844 from the charity stripe this season. They are holding opponents to .352 from the field, .300 from the arc and .765 from the line. Tarleton is outrebounding opponents 39.5 to 26.5 and outscoring them 83.0 to 58.5 through the first two games, both of which were NCAA Division II opponents.

The Crusaders are coming of a 128-42 loss at Southeastern Louisiana on Friday, Nov. 16. They were led in the contest by Mawire with 11 points while both DeWalt and Parker tallied fie rebounds to lead the squad who was outrebounded 63-17 and shot just 26 percent from the floor.

DCC has been outscored in its eight games 94.3 to 52.9, an average of 41.4 points per game.

The Texans are looking for their 25th straight win over a non NCAA Division II member, including a 1-1 mark against NCAA Division I teams in the regular season. Tarleton is 54-6 against non-Division II opponents since joining the Division II ranks in 1994-95.
