About our Facility

The Athletic Performance Weight Room is where the Texans work out by following a year-round plan to maximize their athletic potential through sound strength and conditioning training. From the layout of the weight room to the writing of the workout programs and the execution of the workouts, the Tarleton Athletic Performance Staff, led by Director of Athletic Performance Bryan Klobucar, creates an environment for maximizing the athletic abilities of Tarleton State student-athletes. All 17 varsity level Tarleton State Athletics teams as well as Texan Cheer and the Texan Stars work out and better their strength and conditioning in the weight room throughout the school year and the summer as well. Both men and women's basketball primary workout space is at the EECU Center, with their own weight room facility.

At Tarleton State, we strive to coach the whole person. Required strength and conditioning activities are limited to eight hours or less a week by NCAA legislation, but the Athletic Performance strives to coach the Tarleton student-athletes on what to do in "the other 22 hours a day" and "the other 160 hours a week" to maximize the effect of the training and practice time. Taking proper care of the body - nutrition, sleep and restoration, and the mental approach to one's sport, as well as character development, are all points of emphasis. Part of this is accomplish through proper refueling and hydration as part of the brand new nutrition station inside the Tarleton State Weight Room.

Many student athletes stay and work out on campus during the summer to allow for the best opportunity for success in the school year. Those who are not on campus in the summer are provided a workout plan for the time that they are away to encourage that they return in the best condition possible to start the year each August. The accomplishments of Tarleton athletic teams have fostered more and more involvement in the summer program as time goes on, showing a continued commitment to athletic success.

The Tarleton State Athletic Performance Center received a massive upgrade with the expansion into the former Tarleton State Volleyball gym. The 8,000 square foot facility includes three rows of work stations featuring 21 total Sorinex workstations. These stations also feature brand IPads on their sides for the athletics to follow their individualized daily workout plan. Each station is equipped with various sized plates, a bench, squat rack and pull up bar. The State-of-the-art technology features force plates and velocity based senors as well.

The back of the area, features office space for our strength and performance coaches in which they can also conduct one-on-one meeting to ensure the needs of each and every athlete are meet. When you walk in you are greeted with a floor to ceiling mural that brings color and vibrance to the area. The outside wall is covered in floor to ceiling windows to give the room natural light, and a sleek modern look.
