Coaches Corner: Henry Cofer

Henry Cofer, assistant coach/linebackers

On how he feels after two days of practice:

I'm feeling pretty good. We have some new guys at linebacker that are getting to play, and they are getting better. The main thing is we have to get these guys' legs up under them.  Each day is a progression, and they are constantly getting better.

Do you see another solid linebacking corps this season?

I hope so.  The guys worked hard all summer long, close to 70 guys stayed voluntarily and worked out all summer, and a lot of those were linebackers.  So we have a lot to build on from last year, but at the same time, it looks really promising.

Will this defense be strong again in 2007?

That is the only way Coach Dulin is going to have it.  We are all perfectionists, and we look for perfection each and every time we are on the field.  We just have to carry that over to the games... those are the expectations.

What do you see out of the 2007 season?

Right now, I think the chances are in our favor.  We have six home games, but this is a tough league.  We have to come out focused every time.  We have to be ready to play and ready to win.

What do people need to know about Henry Cofer?

I'm a hardworker.  I'm a perfectionist.  I am going to do things the right way, and I think that is why Coach McElroy gave me a chance.
