ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - Former Texan football head coach and defensive coordinator Hal McAfee passed away from natural causes, Saturday, November 22 at his home in Arkadelphia, Ark.
McAfee served as the defensive coordinator for the Texans before being named head coach in 1988, a position he held through the 1992 season. The Texans were 30-18 with McAfee at the helm, and Tarleton claimed two Texas Intercollegiate Athletics Association championships, inclding an undefeated regular season in 1990 when the Texans lost in the second round of the NAIA playoffs.
Memorial services were held on Wednesday, Nov. 26 at the First United Methodist Church in Arkadelphia, Ark.
Tarleton State University and the Tarleton athletics department would like to extend sympathy to the McAfee family.
