CANYON – Tarleton (9-5) wrapped up its weekend in Canyon by sweeping No. 24 Colorado School of Mines Sunday afternoon, finishing the West Texas A&M Classic with a 4-1 record.
The TexAnns started the afternoon by taking game one 4-3 off RBIs from Arianna and
Marcie Rodriguez,
McKaylee Pittman and
Eryn Freitas and a complete game win by
Samantha Swanda. Then, they claimed the second game in an offensive showcase, 12-11.
“We got some a lot of big hits today and some big home runs from Arianna, Bailee (Mauldin) and Amber (Sotelo),” said head coach
Julie Mata. “(Swanda) also had three doubles and came in to close out game two. I'm really proud of our pitchers. Swan, Randi (Fentress) and Kirby (Crow) really battled in the circle against a great hitting team.”
Stats from the second game are unavailable but will be posted on TarletonSports.com in coming days.
The TexAnns will return to action Friday in Denton at the Texas Woman's Best Western Spring Fling when they play Fort Hays State at 4:30 p.m.
