Tarleton 9, Oklahoma Panhandle 1 (6)

For the second time this season, Courtney Vroman gave the TexAnns a victory with a walk off hit – this time, however, her game-winner ended the game early for Tarleton's third straight run-rule win of the tournament.

The senior sent a chopper up the middle of the diamond to plate Bailee Mauldin, cap off a five-run sixth inning and give Tarleton its fifth straight win of the season and third of this weekend.

Oklahoma Panhandle got the scoring started in the top of the first when a leadoff single came around to score on a bases loaded walk, but Tarleton's Randi Fentress worked out of a jam with a swinging strikeout.

The TexAnns answered right back in the bottom of the first when Melody Mayse opened the home half of the inning with a single to right field and a stolen base. She advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt from Rachel Brownlow.

Arianna Rodriguez drove Mayse in with a base hit to right field. The senior shortstop stole second and came around to score when Bailee Mauldin sent a shot the other way for an RBI single.

Tarleton was in danger of stranding a leadoff double from Brownlow in the third, but Vroman capitalized with an RBI single to right center to put the TexAnns up 3-1.

While Fentress continued to keep the Aggies off the board, the offense continued to tack on runs adding one more in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Amber Clifford to bring home Rodriguez.

In the sixth, Tarleton scored the final five runs of the game with just one out to send Oklahoma Pandhandle packing a half-inning early.

After a walk, a strikeout and a single opened the inning, Brownlow drove a base hit back up the box to plate Shelby Tinklepaugh from second. Rodriguez stepped up and immediately crushed a double to right field to clean up the bases and plate Mayse and Brownlow.

Mauldin ripped a double of her own to bring Rodriguez home before Vroman ended the game with her single.

Fentress went the distance for Tarleton allowing one earned run on four hits and a walk while striking out four.

The first five hitters in the Tarleton lineup – Mayse (2-3), Brownlow (2-4), Rodriguez (3-4), Mauldin (3-4) and Vroman (2-4) - all recorded multi-hit games while Fentress was 1-2 at the dish.

Tarleton 6, Texas-Permian Basin 3

Tarleton finished out its home tournament with a full-length 6-3 win over Texas-Permian Basin in the Sunday nightcap.

Permian Basin got on the board first when a leadoff single came around to score on a single up the middle. The Falcon run was unearned on a bobble in the outfield.

The Tarleton offense wasted little time in retaking control of the game, however, as Mayse led off the Texann first with a double to left center.

Rachel Brownlow attempted to bunt to Mayse to third, but the sophomore got down the line quickly and alertly took second base when the centerfielder failed to cover the bag. Rodriguez drove Mayse in two pitches later with a single to left.

After a popout, Clifford put Tarleton on top with a sacrifice fly to left to plate Brownlow.

Tarleton added two more in the third on an illegal pitch with a runner on third and an RBI fielder's choice from Vroman.

In the bottom of the fifth, Tarleton continued to pile it on when Brownlow led off the inning with a triple and came in to score on a Texas-League single into left field by Rodriguez. The senior shortstop came around to score immediately after when Mauldin drove a double into the left center gap to put the home team up 6-1.

The Falcons put up a scuffle in the top of the sixth, tacking on a pair of unearned runs, but could not overcome the TexAnn lead.

Hennan earned a complete game win allowing three runs – all unearned – on five hits and one walk while striking out nine.

Brownlow and Rodriguez were each 3-3 at the dish while Mayse and Mauldin added one hit apiece.
