LAST TIME OUT
Tarleton suffered a sweep on a rainy roadtrip to Canyon last weekend against the then No. 3 Lady Buffs. The TexAnns had their chances, dropping the first game 5-4 and the third game 14-11 after putting together a furious seventh inning rally to bring the game within striking distance.
SERIES HISTORY
Tarleton and Texas A&M-Kingsville have met 62 times since the inaugural meeting in 1997. The TexAnns own the all-time series record 35-27, including sweeping last year's three-game set and six of the last seven meetings. Tarleton is 15-9 all-time against the Javelinas in Stephenville.
ONE MORE HIT FOR RODRIGUEZ
With her next base hit,
Arianna Rodriguez will become Tarleton's all-time hit leader – passing Jennifer Maupin's career mark of 184 from 1996-99. Rodriguez is already the school's career leader in home runs, RBIs, runs scored and total bases.
VROMAN IN THE 5-SPOT
The TexAnns have varied their lineup several times this season, but senior utility player
Courtney Vroman has found much success in the five hole of the batting order. She has hit fifth in eight games this season, amassing 22 at bats. In that spot, she has score five runs on 10 hits and two walks with two home runs and eight RBIs.
BROWNLOW FINDING HER GROOVE
This season at the plate,
Rachel Brownlow is the only TexAnn on the roster hitting over.300 against both lefties and righties this season. She is also one of the team's top hitters when hitting as the lead-off batter in an inning (.615), with runners on base (.393), runners in scoring position (.429) and runners on third with less than two outs (.667).
UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
The TexAnns will take a two-game hiatus from Lone Star Conference action with a 4 p.m. doubleheader against St. Mary's Tuesday night.
