Randi Fentress kept the Javelinas in check from the pitching circle while a three-run fifth inning propelled the TexAnns to a 4-2 win over Kingsville in the first game.

The Javelinas scored first in the top of the fourth when an RBI single plated a runner from third, who led off the inning with a triple, to put Kingsville up 1-0.

Tarleton responded in the ensuing half inning when Arianna Rodriguez reached on an error and eventually moved to third after a sacrifice bunt and a stolen base. The senior shortstop came in to score off a sacrifice fly from Bailee Mauldin.

The TexAnns took control of the game with a three-run, two-out rally in the fifth inning – starting with Melody Mayse's first career home run to right center field.

After a walk and a single by Rachel Brownlow and Rodriguez, Amber Clifford drove in Brownlow with an RBI single up the middle to put Tarleton up 3-1. The TexAnns got their final run of the game on a Javelina error.

Texas A&M-Kingsville added one more run on a solo home run in the top of the seventh but was unable to get any more off Fentress.
