STEPHENVILLE - A four-run fourth inning by Cameron proved to be the difference in the game as Tarleton dropped the final game of a three-game series with the Aggies 6-2 Friday afternoon.
"I'm disappointed that we weren't able to finish the job," said Tarleton head coach Julie Mata. "We played so great yesterday and we came out today and didn't execute. Cameron played well, but we didn't do the little things well enough today to get the sweep."
Tarleton got on the board first when Kelsey Latta lined a two-out single to left field, plating Randi Fentress from second base.
The Aggies took their first lead in the ensuing half inning when two errors allowed a pair of runs to come home.
In the bottom of the third, however, Tarleton struck right back when Rachel Brownlow belted her first career home run as a TexAnn over the left center field wall to knot the score at 2-2.
Cameron pulled away by scoring four runs on five hits and an error - all with two outs in the inning.
Tarleton had a chance to do some damage in the bottom of the second, but it would not be as a bleeder to left field with two on and two out failed to find the outfield grass as the Aggies went on to the win.
Randi Fentress took the loss for Tarleton, pitching five innings allowing six runs - three earned - on 10 hits and four walks with five strikeouts. Brenna Hennan pitched the last two innings allowing no runs on no hits and a walk.
Tarleton mustered only five hits as a team with Amber Clifford going 2-2. Latta, Brownlow and Melody Mayse had one hit each.
The TexAnns will hit the road next weekend for a three-game set against Eastern New Mexico in Portales.
