STEPHENVILLE - In a short turnaround from a three-game set with the No. 22 team in the country, Tarleton will be back in action Tuesday night when they host the LSC leading No. 15 Texas Woman's Pioneers.

Tarleton was swept at home last weekend and will look to keep pace in the Lone Star Conference standings, where they currently sit in sixth place with a 9-9 conference record.

This matchup is the second of the final four series of the season, which are slated against four of the top six teams in the Lone Star Conference. MSU and Texas Woman's are both currently ranked in the nation while Angelo State was ranked in the top 25 as recently as last week and Incarnate Word is the reigning LSC Tournament Champions.

LAST TIME OUT

Tarleton suffered a three-game sweep to No. 22 Midwestern State. After losing the first game 6-1, Tarleton fought back from a 7-1 deficit in the sixth inning to take an 8-7 lead before letting it slip away in the top of the seventh. MSU held on for the sweep in a third-game slugfest, 17-8.

SERIES HISTORY

Tarleton and Texas Woman's have been doing battle on the softball field since 1997, developing into one of the most extensive rivalries in school history. The TexAnns and Pioneers have played 61 times in the last 16 years, making TWU one of three schools with over 60 all-time meetings against Tarleton - joining Texas A&M-Kingsville (65) and Eastern New Mexico (63). The TexAnns are 41-20 all-time against TWU, including wins in four of the last six meetings. Tarleton is 16-8 at home against them.

TARLETON VS RANKED FOES

Tarleton hasn't had an easy schedule to navigate through in 2013. This doubleheader against TWU will be the TexAnns' eighth and ninth games against ranked opponents this season as Tarleton is still in search of its first win against a top-25 opponent.

TRIO OF TEXANNS STEPPING UP
With the season-ending loss of sophomore outfielder Rachel Brownlow, Kelsey Latta stepped into the No. 2 hole of the Tarleton lineup last weekend and was one of three TexAnns who each hit over .400 for the series. Arianna Rodriguez hit .571 with a double, a home run and five RBIs against Midwestern State while McKaylee Pittman hit .429 and had an on-base percentage of .636. Latta hit .400 with a solo home run and seven total bases.

MAYSE EYEING TARLETON TRIPLES RECORD

Freshman outfielder Melody Mayse is currently leading the Lone Star Conference in triples (7) this season and she is currently on pace to top Tarleton's all-time season mark for three-baggers - 9 set by Kelli Gayle in 2007.

CONTROLLING THE RUN GAME

Tarleton will shift gears from last weekend, when they hosted a hit-first, run-second offensive attack of Midwestern State. Tuesday night, Tarleton will try to keep TWU's Bailey Vrazel off the bases or in check. The Pioneers lead the LSC in stolen bases with 101 steals in 115 attempts - 28 more stolen bases than MSU, who is second. Vrazel is 41-47 in steals this season.

UP NEXT FOR TARLETON

The TexAnns will head out for their final regular season road trip of the season with a three-game series this weekend at Angelo State and a one-game trip to Denton against Texas Woman's next Tuesday.
