LAST TIME OUT
Tarleton State went 4-2 at the Woodward WT Invitational, beginning the tournament with an eighth-inning walk-off win over Colorado State-Pueblo and wrapping up the tournament in the same fashion - an eighth-inning walk-off against Colorado Mesa. In game two of the tournament against CMU, Tarleton starter Brenna Hennan dealt a complete-game shutout of the Mavericks for her third career complete game shutout.

SERIES HISTORY
Tarleton owns the all-time series record against St. Mary's 30-25, dating back to the inaugural meeting in 1998. The Rattlers won the first meeting in San Antonio but Tarleton answered to take eight of the next 12. After St. Mary's seized control of the series through the first game of a February 24, 2007 doubleheader, Tarleton swept the Rattlers in game two to start a run of dominance in the series that would last over the next four years. That victory was the beginning of 13 wins over the next 15 meetings for the TexAnns through Feb. 19, 2011. Since then, Tarleton has won just four of the last 10.

CLOSING IN ON 500
With four wins last weekend, Tarleton head coach Julie Mata is now at 494 wins in her TexAnn Softball coaching career. After a stellar playing career as a basketball star for the TexAnns in the late 80's and early 90's, Mata took over as the head softball coach in the school's second season of 1997 and has lifted the TexAnns into national prominence. Now, Mata is on the verge of a momentous accomplishment in her career - 500 victories.

MAKING A STATEMENT
In her first 13 collegiate games, freshman outfield Kendra Mendoza has made her way into the top-10 in the Lone Star Conference in home runs. The freshman outfielder has belted three this season, including one against Fort Lewis last weekend. She is currently tied for eighth in the Lone Star Conference in round trippers.

STOGSDILL STARTING OFF
Freshman Mikayla Stogsdill got her first two career starts in the leadoff spot of the Tarleton lineup last weekend and did not disappoint. The rookie from Sanger went 5-8 as the TexAnn leadoff hitter with a double, an RBI and a run scored. This season when Stogsdill leads off an inning, she has reached base four out of six times.

UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
Following Tuesday's doubleheader against St. Mary's, Tarleton will head to San Antonio to take part in the Rattlers' home tournament from Friday to Sunday. The TexAnns will begin tournament action Friday at 10 a.m. against Central Oklahoma.
