Box Score 2 STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton was swept in Tuesday afternoon's doubleheader by St. Mary's, who took the opening game 14-4 and the nightcap 9-0.
Game 1: St. Mary's 14, Tarleton 4 (6)
After Tarleton seized control over St. Mary's over the first three innings, the Rattlers scored 14 runs over the final three innings the end the game after six and hand the TexAnns a 14-4 loss in the first game of the afternoon.

Randi Fentress posted goose eggs over the first three innings and, in the bottom of the third,
Melody Mayse provided the biggest offensive blast of the afternoon – a three-run bomb to deep right field for a 3-0 Tarleton lead.
In the inning following the Mayse homer, St. Mary's got on the board with a grand slam home run to straight-away center field to take a 4-3 advantage.
The Rattlers added to their lead with five-spots in the top of the fifth and top of the sixth to take a 14-3 lead. The TexAnns tacked on one in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single by
Erika Menchaca but could get no closer as the Rattlers claimed the early victory.
Fentress took the loss after allowing nine runs on eight hits and five walks with five strikeouts.
Katelyn Conlee pitched an inning of relief allowing five runs on four hits and two walks.
Mayse,
Bailee Mauldin and
Kelsey Latta each had two hits and a run scored while Menchaca had the seventh hit for the TexAnns on the afternoon.
Game 2: St. Mary's 9, Tarleton 0 (6)
In the nightcap, the Rattlers struck for four in the second, three in the sixth and solo runs in the fourth and fifth while the Tarleton offense failed to get any runs across en route to their first shutout of the season.
After
Brenna Hennan ran through the Rattler offense in the opening frame, St. Mary's put up a four-spot in the second on two RBI singles and a two-run error to take the lead.
The TexAnns got one runner on in each of the next two innings but couldn't plate any runs while the Rattlers added two more on RBI singles in the fourth and fifth. St. Mary's pulled away even farther in the sixth with two more RBI singles and a run-scoring Tarleton error.
Hennan took the loss for Tarleton, throwing all six innings allowing nine runs – six earned – on 10 hits and five walks with three strikeouts.
Only three TexAnns recorded any hits off the Rattler starter with Mayse and
Ashley Findorak getting two hits each and
Mikayla Stogsdill going 1-3.
Rachel Brownlow was hit by a pitch as the only other TexAnn to reach base.
Tarleton is now 7-8 overall and 1-5 at home. The TexAnns will travel to San Antonio this weekend to take part in the Rattler Invitational beginning Friday. Tarleton is 6-3 in road tournaments this season.
