AUSTIN – On the final day of the Texas Relays and Texas State Bobcat Invitational, the Tarleton Texan runners shined – highlighting the day with three provisional NCAA marks and a personal-best time for
Dylan Willett in the 800m.
"I think overall, this was a good weekend, especially for the distance runners," said Tarleton head coach
Pat Ponder. "It was also good to see Randall hit a PR in the 110m hurdles. Overall, it was just a good solid weekend for Tarleton State."
Kadlacek hit a personal-best time of 14.57 for a sixth place finish in the 110m hurdles for his second NCAA provisional mark of the season, topping last weekend's time of 14.66, and moved him into a tie for No. 7 in the nation.
Wrapping up the Texas Relays in Austin was the men's mile relay team of
Marquis Thompson,
Blake Eschbach,
Cameron Krc and
Gilson Umunnakwe, who ran their best time of the season and finished in seventh with a time of 3:13.91.
This was the second mark of the season for the Mile Relay team, topping the season's previous best time of 3:14.15 and improves the Texan relay team from No. 9 in the nation to No. 7.
At the Bobcat Invitational in Sam Marcos, meanwhile,
Chase Rathke hit his first NCAA qualifying mark of the season in the 800m run with a time of 1:51.78 – which ranks him No. 3 in the nation. The Texan finished fourth while teammate
Dylan Willett set a personal-best time of 1:57.00 in the race.
The Texans and TexAnns will be back in action next weekend together when they visit San Angelo to compete in the David Noble Relays April 5.
