LAST TIME OUTTarleton split a four-game series against Cameron in the last home weekend series of the season. The TexAnns dropped the first game in extra innings on a bases-clearing single but rebounded behind a complete-game shutout by Brenna Henna in game two. Tarleton took game three to open play last Saturday but surrendered the split after eight unearned runs proved too much to overcome.
SERIES HISTORYThe TexAnns and Pioneers have met 64 times since the inaugural meeting in 1997. After TWU took four of the first five games in 1997, the TexAnns dominated the series from 1998 to 2003 - winning 22 of the 26 meetings over that stretch and never losing back-to-back games to the Pioneers. Since the 2004 season, however, things have been relatively tight with Tarleton holding a slim 19-14 lead in the series. Tarleton is 23-11 all-time in Denton and all the career meetings have come under the tenure of head coach
Julie Mata.
HENNAN LOOKS TO KEEP ROLLINGBrenna Hennan put together, arguably, the best week of her career last week in three outings against Texas-Permian Basin and Cameron. The junior hurler tossed two complete-game shutouts, boasted a mere 1.11 ERA and went 16 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run. Her two shutouts last week give her four this season and six in her Tarleton career, which ties her for the sixth most all-time with Heather Johnson.
FENTRESS MAKING HER MARKS IN SCHOOL HISTORYRandi Fentress continues to make her mark in the school record books. The senior was already second all-time in strikeouts and one of just two players in Tarleton history with over 400 career K's, but last weekend Fentress earned her 10th win of the season moving her into fifth all-time with 42 career victories.
CONLEE ON A TEARKatelyn Conlee improved her batting average to .422 last weekend, which is now .038 points higher than the next highest batting average on the team. Her .703 slugging percentage leads the TexAnns as well and the sophomore slugger from Stephenville is also fifth in the LSC in overall batting average and leading the conference in batting average in conference games (.600).
UP NEXT FOR TARLETONThe TexAnns will return home Thursday April 17 for the final games against Texas Woman's when they host the Pioneers for a 4 p.m. doubleheader at Tarleton's Softball Complex.
