LAST TIME OUT
Tarleton State hosted No. 23 Texas Woman's April 17 in the final games in Stephenville this season and played the Pioneers to a split. Texas Woman's used a five-run sixth inning to overpower Tarleton in a 9-6 game before the TexAnns rallied in game two to win 7-5. Tarleton found itself trailing 3-2 in the sixth inning before a three-run homer by freshman Erika Menchaca turned the game around and ultimately lifted Tarleton to the win.

SERIES HISTORY
Tarleton and Midwestern State have met 23 times in their softball history, dating back to the first game on May 7, 2004 and including this season's earlier meeting. Tarleton won the first game of the series 3-1 and took five of the first nine all-time meetings against MSU. Since 2008, however, Tarleton has managed only one win - a 2-1 win on April 3, 2011 - in the last 14 meetings.

EARLY SEASON MEETING
Despite the schedule changes for most of conference play, this series will maintain its original three-game series status because Tarleton and Midwestern did managed to complete its single game at the field-and-weather-shortened LSC Showcase in March. The Mustangs edged Tarleton 8-5 in the opening game of the showcase, which was then then shortened from a six-game tournament to just two games after the secondary field was deemed unplayable and rain cancelled Tarleton's final game of that weekend.

STOGSDILL STREAK RECHES 10 STRAIGHT
Mikayla Stogsdill has reached base in 10 consecutive games, dating back to the Texas-Permian Basin doubleheader on April 1. Over that stretch, the freshman utility player is hitting .429 with 12 hits in 28 at bats, including a double, while scoring eight runs, driving in one and stealing a base. She has a .484 on-base percentage this month.

TOPPING 20 WINS
With the win over Texas Woman's on April 17, Tarleton State won its 20th game of the season. This marks the 17th time in Tarleton's 19-year history to win at least 20 games in a season. They have won at least 20 in every season after the first two seasons in 1996 and 1997.

HEADING TO THE TOURNAMENT
After this weekend, Tarleton State will head to the Lone Star Conference Tournament for the 13th time in school history. The six-team, single-elimination tournament will begin next weekend in either Canyon or San Angelo and Tarleton and Midwestern are currently playing for seeding as the Mustangs enter this weekend as the No. 5 seed and Tarleton is No. 6.
