Tylo Farrar for the women, Tarleton's men finish first while the women finish second at the UTSA Ricardo Romo Classic.

Pat Ponder. "I am proud of how they competed today and will use this as a step in the right direction."
Peyton Heinig who crossed the line in 16:15.50 secured a fifth-place finish behind only Daniel Alfaro of Texas A&M International, Chris Pietraszkiewicz and Wesley Ward who ran unattached and Albert Meier of Butler Community College who won the 5K race in 15:31.8.
Following Heinig were
Robert Pereira and
Luke Scribner who finished neck and neck in 16:38.2 and 16:38.9 to finish 11
th and 12
th, respectively.
Rounding out the Texan runners were
Thorne Pettigrew in 13
th (16:43.3),
Andrew Clark in 23
rd (17:21.6) and
Stefan Campos in 52
nd (18:26.5).
For the women, Farrar's third-place finish was enough to propel the TexAnns to a second-place overall finish as a team, behind only Trinity University.
In the women's 5K race, Farrar finished with a time of 19:25.40 while Lauren Finley (20:09.4) finished close behind. Pamela Marquez finished 14
th with a time of 20:55.0 while
Makinsey Beesley (20:59.8),
Haley Dennard (21:12.0),
Ashley Dush (21:42.1) and
Lindsay Schlueter (23:42.0) rounded out the TexAnn runners in 15
th, 18
th, 26
th place and 43
rd place, respectively.
"We're going to continue to put in the miles and get ready for Incarnate Word", added Ponder looking forward to next meet.
The Tarleton State Cross Country teams will again travel to San Antonio as they compete the UIW Cross Country Invitational on October 11
th.
