STEPHENVILLE -- The team with the best record in the Lone Star Conference got a total team effort against Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday for a 3-0 sweep at Wisdom Gym.

The win improved Tarleton's win streak to 10 in a row, making it the longest streak in school history during the NCAA era. The 1991 team won 12 in a row as an NAIA affiliate. The TexAnns are 18-3 overall and sit atop the Lone Star Conference standings with an 8-1 record.

In the opening set, Tarleton got kills from five different players with
Hailey Roberts and
Kelsey Raglin providing four apiece en route to a convincing 25-18 set win.

The TexAnns went on a 6-1 run to jump out to a 10-4 lead with Roberts' ace setting the momentum. A&M-Commerce (11-8, 4-5) bounced back with a 4-0 run of its own but Roberts' kill put the run to a halt.
Kenya Alexander and
Meg Umbel had a pair of blocks in the opening set that limited Commerce to a .036 hitting percentage. Tarleton closed out the first set on a 4-0 run led by a pair of Raglin kills.

Tarleton's defense carried them through the second set, limiting Commerce to another sub-.100 hitting percentage (.094) for the second straight set. Commerce took its first lead of the match early in the set at 2-3, but the TexAnns rallied with a 5-0 run behind two aces and a kill from Roberts to take a 9-4 lead. Commerce battled to within 15-14 but Umbel,
Xzache Mathis and Raglin all had kills during a 5-1 run for a 20-15 advantage. Roberts added two more aces on the ensuing serves and Tarleton went on to a 25-19 win in the second set for a 2-0 lead.

Tarleton cruised to 25-16 win in the third set and had a game-high .320 hitting percentage while holding Commerce to a -.040 mark and .035 for the game. Tarleton hit .235 as a team for the match.

The set featured five ties and two lead changes. One of those lead changes came after Tarleton jumped out to a 3-0 lead and Commerce fought to pull ahead 9-10 for its latest lead of the match. Alexander and
Chandler Gow rejected a Commerce attack to tie the game at 10 and that's all Tarleton needed to gain control. Umbel continued to be a force at the net, blocking back-to-back Lion attacks for a 17-12 cushion and helped secure the win.

Hailey Roberts flirted with a triple-double for the second straight game, finishing with a game-high 15 kills, a career-high eight aces and seven digs. Roberts leads the nation with 457 kills.

Kelsey Raglin had eight kills while
Xzache Mathis delivered five kills with a .364 hitting percentage.
Meg Umbel, the LSC leader in blocks per set (1.22) and hitting percentage (.363), had a game-best six blocks and four kills for a .571 hitting percentage.

Chandler Gow assisted on 33 of the Tarleton 35 kills and added three blocks.
Kenya Alexander had three kills and three blocks as well.
Ayssa Garcia led the team in digs with eight for the second straight contest.

The TexAnns continue their dominance at home, improving to a perfect 9-0 in Wisdom Gym. It's the 11
th sweep for Tarleton this season and the sixth sweep at home, having outscored opponents 27-3 in the matches. Tarleton has swept Commerce in three straight games.

The TexAnns will take on Angelo State, who is tied with Tarleton for first place in the Lone Star Conference with one loss apiece, on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Wisdom Gym.
